Fractional CTO
Senior technical leadership without the full-time salary. Get an experienced CTO on a monthly retainer to guide your AI strategy, oversee development, and make the technology decisions that shape your business.
What a fractional CTO does
Think of it as having a CTO on your leadership team -- just not 40 hours a week. You get the strategic thinking, the technical depth, and the decision-making experience, scoped to what your business actually needs right now.
AI Strategy & Implementation
Evaluate where AI fits in your business, build a practical adoption roadmap, and oversee implementation. No hype -- just clear-eyed analysis of what will move the needle.
Development Oversight
Code review, architecture decisions, sprint planning, and quality standards for your engineering team or contractors. Make sure the work getting done is work worth keeping.
Technology Decisions
Stack selection, build-vs-buy analysis, infrastructure planning, and technical due diligence. Every decision documented with rationale so you understand the tradeoffs.
Vendor & Partner Evaluation
Assess third-party tools, platforms, and service providers from a technical perspective. Negotiate from a position of knowledge, not sales pitches.
Team Building & Mentoring
Help you hire the right engineers, structure your team effectively, and establish engineering culture and processes that scale with the business.
Technical Communication
Translate between engineering and business. Board presentations, investor due diligence, client-facing technical discussions -- handled with clarity and confidence.
Who this is for
A fractional CTO makes sense when you need senior technical leadership but a full-time hire is not the right fit -- yet.
Startups without a technical co-founder
You have the domain expertise and the business plan. You need someone who can make the right technical decisions, manage development, and keep things on track -- without giving up equity for a full-time CTO.
Growing companies scaling their tech
Your initial build worked, but now you need architecture that scales, processes that do not break, and someone who can guide your team through the transition from scrappy to structured.
Companies adopting AI
You know AI matters for your business but you are not sure where to start or who to trust. A fractional CTO with deep AI experience can cut through the noise and build a strategy that actually works.
Organizations between CTOs
Your CTO left or you are in the process of hiring. You need senior technical leadership to keep things moving, maintain team morale, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks during the transition.
What you get
Every retainer includes these core deliverables. The specific mix adjusts based on what your business needs most in any given month.

- On-call availability for urgent technical decisions
- Architecture and code review for all major changes
- Monthly written status reports and recommendations
- Direct Slack or Teams access for async communication
- Attendance at board meetings and investor calls as needed
- Vendor and partner evaluation with written assessments
- Hiring support including technical interview design and candidate review
How the engagement works
Simple, predictable, and designed to build trust over time.
Monthly Retainer
A fixed monthly fee based on the scope of involvement. Most engagements fall between 10 and 30 hours per month. You get predictable costs and consistent availability.
Flexible Commitment
Start with a 3-month initial engagement to build context and trust. After that, continue month-to-month with 30 days notice. No long-term lock-in.
Clear Boundaries
We define the scope together upfront. If a month requires more involvement than planned, we discuss it before the work happens -- not after the invoice.
See if it is the right fit
We will start with a 30-minute call to understand your situation and see if a fractional CTO engagement makes sense. If it does, you will get a clear proposal within a week. If it does not, we will tell you that too.
